AddressCamino de Gibralfaro 11. A pie: sube desde el Paseo de Don Juan Temboury, junto a la entrada de la Alcazaba (unos 20 min cuesta arriba). En bus: línea 35 de la EMT desde el centro (cada 30 min aprox.)

About
- Castle built by Abd al-Rahman III in the year 929 on an old Phoenician enclosure with a lighthouse (hence the name: 'rock of the lighthouse')
- Yusuf I of Granada enlarged it in the 14th century and joined it to the Alcazaba with a double wall
- You can walk the adarve (the walkway along the top of the walls): views of the bullring, the port and the whole bay
- Interpretation centre (former military museum) next to the entrance
Good to know
- Walk up and take the bus down, or the other way round: line 35 saves you the climb
- Bring water: there is no kiosk on the way up until you reach the top
- In summer, go up late: sunset over the bay and less heat
- The best photos of the bullring and the port are from the walls
