Opening hoursHigh season 2026 (20 Jun–6 Sep): building 12:00–19:00 Monday to Friday and until 20:00 at weekends, by reservation (24 tickets per hour, max. 2 per person). The outdoor natural pools are free to enter at any time.
About
- Sulphurous and ferruginous (iron-rich) water baths declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (protected heritage site)
- Square building with a spherical dome and two barrel vaults, remodelled in Moorish times; excavations in the 1990s uncovered walls and channels
- Legend: Julius Caesar is said to have bathed here in 61 BC to cure a skin disease (tradition, undocumented)
- Natural outdoor pools next to the recreation area, created in 2016
Good to know
- It smells of sulphur: that is normal
- Taking mud away is forbidden: it damages the ecosystem and, according to the Town Hall, "it is the water that heals"
- In summer, book a place for the building; if there is none, the outdoor pools need no booking
- On foot from Casares: a 6.5 km route, about 2 h, medium-low difficulty (follows the Molino and Albarrán streams)
- Combine it with the Canuto de la Utrera (right next door)
