- Sardines are best in the months without an 'r' (May to August), say the locals of Málaga
- El Tintero, on El Dedo beach at the end of El Palo: there is no menu, the waiters go round with the dishes and you pay for the plates left on your table
- At sunset and outside summer is when the promenade is at its most charming
- Start at the Baños del Carmen and walk east
