- White village clinging to the rock, at 435 m altitude, about 22 km from Estepona
- Castle (13th century) at the very top, with remains of towers and walls and spectacular views; griffon vultures and eagles
- Birthplace of Blas Infante and Iglesia de la Encarnación (now a cultural centre)
- Plaza de España, the centre of village life
- Viewpoints: Ornitológico (next to the visitor centre), Sarmiento and Tajo de la Plana
Good to know
- Getting there: from the A-7/N-340 turn inland at km 147 (between Estepona and Sabinillas, next to Torre de la Sal) and climb about 15 km; about 30 min from Estepona
- Parking: free along the road that passes above the village, or in the visitor centre car park (west side); walk down, the streets are narrow and steep
- Best time: in the afternoon, with the sun on the houses; sunset from the Mirador Sarmiento
- Where to eat: Restaurante Sarmiento (at the top, next to the car park, views; a bit pricier), Antiguo Bar Nuevo (on the square) or Venta García, on the road up
- Many restaurants don't serve dinner before 20:30
- Street market: Fridays from 8:00 to 14:00
