About
- The castle is the most important Muslim remnant in central Marbella: two quadrangular enclosures and walls from the 11th and 12th centuries
- Towers you come across: the Torre del Homenaje or del Chorrón (middle of C/ Portada), the Torre de la Campana (junction of Portada-Solano-Escuela), the Torre del Cubo (Portada at Arte) and the Torre Blanca (Plaza de la Iglesia at C/ Carmen)
- Roman capitals were reused in the walls; most of it was pulled down by royal order in 1786
- Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación (begun in 1618), probably built on the main mosque; 18th-century Rococo doorway (Puerta del Sol)
- Inside, the Órgano del Sol Mayor (1975), considered the most important built in Spain in the last century

- It is two minutes from Plaza de los Naranjos: do it on the same stroll around the old town
- The longest stretches of wall can be seen on Calle Trinidad and at the end of Calle Portada
- Outside the walled area, Parque Arroyo de la Represa preserves more of the castle's stone walls
