- Renovated old town of narrow white streets full of flowerpots, a few metres from the sea: the image of Estepona as the 'garden of the Costa del Sol'
- Plaza de las Flores: the heart of the old town, with orange trees, flower beds and terraces for a drink
- Casa de las Tejerinas (18th century), on the same square: temporary exhibitions and 20 permanent works by José Marchá
- Ruta de la Poesía (Poetry Route): poems on tiles and plaques along the streets (Machado, Shakespeare, Victor Hugo, Daniel Casares dedicated to Paco de Lucía...); 'Domingo', by Novomeský, is in the Pasaje del Aljibe
- Plaza del Reloj, quieter, around the tower that remains of the old church
Good to know
- The old town is almost entirely pedestrian: leave the car outside and walk in
- Don't hunt for the poems one by one: they appear as you stroll (full list at turismo.estepona.es/poesias)
- Ask for the free map at the Tourist Office in Plaza de las Flores
- Link it in the same morning with the Orchid House (C/ Terraza 86) and the Torre del Reloj, all a few minutes' walk away
- In summer, best first thing or late afternoon: hot and very crowded at midday
